Jimmer Fredette's Olympic Dream Comes True

College Basketball Phenomenon to Represent USA in 3-on-3 Event

The legend of Jimmer Fredette began in earnest in 2009-10 during his junior year at BYU when he averaged a staggering 22.1 points per game while shooting an NCAA-best 44 percent from the field. Fredette went on to become the 2011 National Player of the Year in college basketball after ranking as the leading scorer in all of NCAA Division I during his senior season for the BYU Cougars.

Now, 13 years after taking the college basketball world by storm, Fredette is realizing his Olympic dream as a three-on-three player in Paris. The 6-2, 195-pound Fredette, who hails from Glens Falls, New York, will be part of a four-man team representing the United States in the inaugural 3-on-3 basketball competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Fredette's journey to the Olympics has been a long and winding one. After graduating from BYU, he was selected 10th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2011 NBA Draft. He spent six seasons in the NBA, playing for the Bucks, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, New York Knicks, and Phoenix Suns.

After his NBA career ended, Fredette played professionally in China and Greece. He also represented the United States at the 2019 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, where he helped the team win a bronze medal.

Fredette's selection to the Olympic team is a testament to his hard work and determination. He has overcome numerous obstacles in his career, including injuries and setbacks. But through it all, he has never given up on his dream of representing his country at the Olympics.
